Welcome to the PAT Training Page. You should be able to find the information you need in the panels below.
The PAT trainings consist of the following:

For those organizations that can not meet requirements for model replication, this pathway lays the foundation for home visiting as a methodology within the early childhood system. You will have annual “approved user” access to online materials. Register for Foundational Training only.
Foundational Training Description:
This three-day training lays the foundation for home visiting as a methodology within the early childhood system and connects the theoretical framework of Parents as Teachers with practice, introducing three main areas of emphasis in the Parents as Teachers approach:
Foundational Training is encouraged but not required for new supervisors.
This is the pathway to high quality replication and strong, significant outcomes for children. Our goal is to help your organization fully understand and put into practice those things that make a quality Parents as Teachers affiliate. Organizations interested in affiliation must meet the minimum requirements and complete an Affiliate Plan. After completing training, individuals will have annual “certified parent educator” access to online materials and programs will have “affiliate” status. Register for both Foundational and Model Implementation Training.
Model Implementation Training Description:
To attend this training, you must have an affiliate plan on file. After completing Foundational Training, you will continue into Model Implementation Training. This two-day training builds on Foundational Training and is designed for parent educators whose programs meet the requirements for affiliation. Model Implementation Training is required for new supervisors.
Model Implementation Training incorporates the Parents as Teaches Quality Assurance Guidelines and offers implementation strategies and evidence-based practices that help your organization fully understand and bring to life quality Parents as Teachers services. Learn how to successfully replicate the Parents as Teachers model and explore strategies not covered in Foundational Training. Demonstrating accountability, evaluation and outcomes is a theme woven throughout.
Supervisors of new affiliate programs must attend the 2 day Model Implementation Training.
Born to Learn certified parent educators will attend Foundational Training and be introduced to new concepts for working with families. It will assure a smooth transition for those trained in the Born to Learn approach as they move toward model fidelity.
The goal of this training is to prepare PAT-certified parent educators to successfully extend the Parents as Teachers program to families with children ages 3 years to the age of kindergarten entry. This two-day training is available only to current parent educators already certified in the Born to Learn Curriculum: Prenatal to 3 Years. The training covers intellectual, language, social-emotional, and motor development of children 3 to 5 years old, and covers techniques for facilitating parent-child interaction during personal visits. The curriculum contains 11 units of personal visit plans and parenting information. Training topics include:
Parents as Teachers National Center offers this one-day technical assistance training to certified parent educators as a follow-up to their initial Institute. It is designed to support the work of all new parent educators who have been implementing the Born to Learn™ model for several months.
